“Nikola Tesla For The First Time Describes His New System For Supplying Wireless Power To Run All The Earth’s Industries.”

By a series of discoveries and inventions just perfected, Nikola Tesla, the electrical scientist, has upset what has hitherto been regarded as one of the fixed laws of nature. “Every effect diminishes with distance,” is the way the textbooks have expressed it. Tesla now says that instead of decreasing like other forces, electricity may be made to increase in intensity with the distance traveled.

The full significance of this discovery may not be at once apparent. It is obvious, however, that it annihilates space. There can be no limit to the power of the electric wave which increases in intensity the further it travels.

For nearly 20 years Tesla has been working on his plan, he calls it his wireless “World System.” If it is put into successful execution it will convert the earth into a gigantic conduit, which will pass power for all earthly activities, and make possible communication with other planets.

From time to time Tesla has made partial announcements as his work progressed. This, however, is the first comprehensive account of his system as a whole that the inventor has consented to give to the world.

“Through ages past man has always attempted to project in some way or other energy into space. In all his attempts, no matter what agent he employed, he was hampered by the inexorable law of nature which says every effect diminishes with distance, generally as the square of the same, sometimes more rapidly.

“I saw at once that space was annihilated in all the three aspects; in the transport of our bodies and materials and in the earth, transmission of the energies necessary for our existence. You can imagine how profoundly I was affected by this revelation. Technically, it meant that the earth, as a whole, had certain periods of vibrations, and that by by impressing electrical vibrations of the same periods upon it, it could be thrown into oscillations of such nature that innumerable benefits could be derived.

“It is difficult to convey an idea of these inventions without resorting to technical terms. The first and best known of these is my transformer, which enables the production of electrical vibrations of transcending intensities. I have already attained activities of many millions of horse power; but this is nothing compared to those which I am expecting to get with my improved apparatus.

“The second is what I have termed my magnifying transmitter, which I look upon as my best electrical invention, and with which any distance can be bridged. I have already passed of this wonderful instrument and am confident that a message can be flashed to such a distance as the planet Mars.

“Some technical men would be disposed to look upon such statements as those of a dreamer, but it is only because they have not had opportunities to see experiments which I have actually performed. The third invention I have designated as the “Art of individualization,” which enables the transmission of an unlimited number of messages through a wire or wireless, without the slightest interference. Not before this improvement is universally adopted will the world fully realise the benefits of telegraphy and telephony. The fourth invention is my receiver, which concentrates the energy transmitted over a wide area into the operating device.”

What would the voltage in your transmitter be?

“In the transmission of telegraphic and telephonic messages I shall employ from five to ten million volts, but in transmitting power in great quantities, as much as one hundred million volts will be used.“

How will your “World System” compare with those now in use as regards to cost?

“We could easily afford to offer a transmission of telegraphic and telephonic messages to any terrestrial distance for five cents a word. In a short while no one will think it anything out of the way to dictate or to write a long letter across the Pacific.”

How long does it take for the transmission of a message, by your system, around the world?

“The exact time is, according to my measurements, 43-1000 of a second, which is a speed about 50 per cent greater than that of light.

“The impulse starts from my magnifying transmitter with infinite speed, slows first rapidly and then at a lesser rate until, when it has penetrated to a distance of 6000 miles from the transmitter, it proceeds with approximately the speed of light. From there on it accelerates, first slowly and then more rapidly, and reaches the opposite point of the globe again with infinite speed only to rebound and pass through the same phases on its way back to the transmitter.

“This movement of electricity through the Earth, which takes place strictly in accordance with a mathematical law, and enables a great number of accurate measurements and determinations to be made, which are of immense practical and scientific value.”

Is your universal marine service based upon this principle?

“Largely so. In setting up and maintaining stationary waves in the earth its entire surface is subdivided in perfectly definite zones of electric activity, so that any observer of all those data which are of importance to navigators as the latitude and longitude, the position with reference to a given point, the speed of travel, and the course followed. This method is quite exact and reliable, and once introduced will be instrumental in a great saving of time, life and property.”

When your system of time distribution is introduced what kind of devices will be used for indicating the hour?

“They will be ever so much simpler than the ordinary clocks or watches, being entirely devoid of wheel work. For personal use a small case will be provided resembling that of a watch which would indicate precisely the time and require no more attention than a compass for instance. The large clocks on towers and public edifices in general will be replaced by extremely simple devices operated on the same principle.

“All these will be ‘tuned’ to a wireless wave sent out at a certain time. This will automatically set the hands of every ‘tuned’ time piece.”

In operating stock tickers, will the present instruments have to be replaced by others?

“Not at all, they will remain intact. A great financier told me that this should be one of the most valuable and practical applications of my system, inasmuch as the instantaneous operation of such instruments all the world over will go far toward allaying panics and failures which are at present mostly due to the inadequacy and stagnation of channels of information.”

“A business man will be able to dictate in his office a letter which will appear in type at any other place he wishes without loss of time in the transmission. It will be exactly as though he had his stenographer close by. In the same manner it will be practicable to send a handwritten letter or even a check, and what is more important, it will not be possible to falsify the signature.”

Will the transmission of complex musical productions require complicated apparatuses?

“Not at all. The apparatus at any of the master plants, transmitting a great number of musical compositions, will be of necessity complicated, but the subscriber will need only a telephone receiver, and, if he desires exclusiveness, and individualizing device in connection, which, however, will be rarely required. He will be none the less able to listen to the most complex opera played in some remote party of the world. What is more, he can carry the entire outfit with him on his walks and travels, and whenever he desires to listen to the music he can do so.

“The wireless system which I have developed does not contemplate competition with established lighting systems in densely populated districts, but it offers an ideal solution for the illumination of isolated places. The light will be furnished by exhausted glass tubes, bent in all sorts of ornamental shapes, and is of surpassing beauty, resembling closely the daylight. The lamps will last forever. The entire apparatus for lighting the average country dwelling will contain no moving part whatever, and could be readily carried about in a small valise. It will be quite immaterial in which region of the earth the house to be lighted is located. Distance will not affect the charge.“

How far from the Earth’s surface can power be transmitted by this wireless system?

“To any distance; in fact, the greater the elevation above the ground the easier it is to supply the power to the vehicle, such as an airship crossing the ocean.”

What do you consider the most important application of your system?

"The transmission of power, of course. The operation of aerial machines alone will be of a revolutionizing influence, in as much as it will afford a perfect solution of this important problem.

"Another great field will be the irrigation and fertilization of the soil by wireless power. The time is not distance when a farmer will have installed on his place an apparatus for continuously manufacturing, from the gases of the atmosphere, nitric compounds which will be used to fertilize, while a motor will pump the water and perform other duties; all the energy being supplied from a plant perhaps thousands of miles away. This system can be extended so as to make productive vast tracts of now barren lands located in various countries. I believe that the export of wireless power will be one of the chief resources of the United States and other fortunately situated countries in times to come.“

The True Story of Nikola Tesla (In A Nutshell)

In the past, Direct Current was thought to be the future of power transmission. Then a young pimp named Nikola Tesla stepped in and showed that Alternating Current was the future. The inventor was ridiculed, bashed and attacked for years by dipsh**s who were blinded by commercial interests, but Tesla rose above the dense f***s and proved that AC was far more superior than DC. Eventually, all scientists/engineers with any intellect realized AC’s advantages to DC, so all the corporate derps of that time instantly switched to AC to reap benefits off Tesla’s work. And so while everyone else was finally catching up to the young pimp, Tesla had already moved on to new discoveries in power transmission–World Wireless Technology. But the commercial development of AC had taken full force, and the development of power transmission could not misdirect again to Tesla’s new developments like it had from DC to AC. The pimp was pushed aside and ignored while the children played with his kid toys. So the Industrial Revolution continued to strive off Tesla’s primitive work instead of following him in his newly developed technology, and the future was mislead in a unrefined direction in power transmission. Now the future is a hundred years behind with no site of returning back to the technology Tesla wanted to bring the world.

NASA and Other Space Agencies Are Wasting Our Money

With Nikola Tesla’s World Wireless System(s) we would not need the thousands of multi-million dollar satellites and debris currently orbiting earth. Also, his system(s) would be grounded so we wouldn’t need the additional expenditures to send engineers to space to fix equipment. They could just fix the transmitters here on earth by driving a few miles.

Tesla’s transmitter(s) would not only provide everything a satellite does, including Doppler radar, navigation, and communication and entertainment around the world, but much more. His experimentations and inventions proved that his “World System” would also provide: 

1. The operation of flying machines by wireless power.

2. Navigation of ships through fog or channels by wireless “tuned compasses.”

3. Operations of all manufacturing and transportation machinery.

4. A prefect government secret signal service by exclusive wireless waves.

5. Interplanetary communication.

6. Irrigation and fertilization of world by wireless power.

7. Magnetizing of enemy battleships and submarines to attract torpedoes.

Our present would be far more advanced had Tesla been allowed to share his work with the world. Although it seems we are advancing with greats strides in technological achievements, we are still a hundred years behind the future Nikola Tesla dreamed and hoped for.

***Allow me to break this post down for those who haven’t read up much on Nikola Tesla***

The first paragraph is clear. We could spend the money we put towards satellites and use it to develop Tesla’s system(s) around the world. And by system(s), Tesla never meant just one machine running all the earth. Every country would have their own transmitter/receivers, and these machines could work together or separately depending on how the country, or individual with a receiver, would prefer. And this would be a whole lot more inexpensive than what we spend on satellites. 

The second paragraph is not an exaggeration. Tesla’s system would literally do everything a satellite does and more. It could be used to create an artificial aurora borealis to light night skies at sea, or analyze weather conditions. It could be used as a GPS, and not just on earth’s surface, but earth’s interior as well (ex. finding mineral deposits, submarines etc.). This is accomplished by setting up and maintaining longitudinal stationary waves in the earth making its entire surface subdivided into zones of electric activity. This allows data to be collected about earth’s dimensions, and the positioning of moving or non-moving objects by analyzing the way waves react to objects within it or without it. This would help in navigation, prospecting, or basic radar by determining positions of objects in or outside earth, determining latitudes and longitudes, the speed of travel and the courses followed. His system could also be used for communication and entertainment the same way a satellite does, but even better. We use communication satellites to bounce signals off the satellite, and send these signals to other points on the globe. We need satellites to do this because it was thought to be a fact that every effect diminishes with distance, so the signals sent either dissipate with distance, and/or do not follow the curvature of earth. This is why we can only receive radio signals at certain distances from the station. With Tesla’s system, satellites in this sense become obsolete. His system could send instantaneously typed or handwritten characters all over the world, set and regulate all clocks, be a universal stock ticker, reproduce art and photography, and allow the absolutely exclusive use of video, audio and text communication (this is how Tesla predicted smart phones a hundred years before they were developed). Now how would he do this? Tesla used the earth as a conductor, or a wire, and sent the energy through it with no loss of the energy. With this method, the problems with the dissipation of energy are solved. What Tesla discovered was that the earth as a whole had certain periods of natural vibrations, and by impressing electrical vibrations of the same periods upon it with his transformer, it could be thrown into oscillations of tremendous nature. Now Tesla could collect this energy and transmit it with his Magnifying Transmitter to any place on earth with no loss of energy and practically instantaneous. He proved this method in experiments at Colorado Springs where he sent a longitudinal wave all the way around the world and back to his receiver traveling at a mean velocity of 292,812 miles per second

I know some will balk at sending anything faster than the speed of light, but I will remind them that light is a constant, it is not a limit. The electromagnetic waves we use in today’s technology travel at the speed of light, but due to the nature of these waves (which are similar to light), diminish with distance. This is because their electromagnetic lines of force and their magnetic lines of force run in angles of each other causing resistance. This is why they eventually lose energy. Tesla on the other hand used an oscillating wave, which electromagnetic and magnetic forces run parallel with each other, hence no friction and no loss of energy. So the more power he used the faster and further these waves would travel. Now imagine what can be accomplished with waves that do not diminish with distance (((;

Now I know people are skeptical about how safe this would be. If the whole earth is electrified, wouldn’t we get shocked all the time? Well, no. Tesla used electrostatics. This is when an electric charge is at rest, unlike Direct Current electricity and Alternating Current, which are moving electricity through wires either directly or back and both. Both DC and AC are very dangerous if touched. What Tesla would do is speed up his Alternating Currents so fast that the electricity would become static electricity. You could store it, or pass it through your body with no harm. He demonstrated this in lectures throughout the 1890s by passing thousands of volts of electricity through his body and shooting electricity out his fingertips. Static Electricity is already all around us. It’s kinda like when you rub your socks on the carpet and can walk to the other side of the room and shock someone. Well this static electricity gets stored in your body but doesn’t harm you. The shock might harm your friend but nevertheless is harmless. Also, unlike the wireless technology we use today which is ninety percent radiation, Nikola Tesla’s system is clean energy. His system reverses what our technology does and uses only ten percent radiation, and ninety percent current waves. This is why there is no loss of energy, and this is why we should be learning how to do Tesla’s system.

Now how his system would be better than satellites. 

1. The operation of flying machines by wireless power: The flow of Tesla’s currents are confined to the earth, but with his machine he could create an electromagnetic field in the atmosphere surrounding it. Now if light electric motors with attached circuits are placed in the airplanes, or other flying machines, and are accurately attuned, energy will be drawn into these circuits powering the motors. Just like if you had a bottle and submerged it in water then poked a hole in it. The energy would flow into the circuit the same way water would into the bottle. This would revolutionize a whole new world of transportation. 

2. Navigation of ships through fog or channels by wireless “tuned compasses: Same thing when I spoke of GPS.

3. Operations of all manufacturing and transportation machinery: Kinda the same way as with communication and entertainment, with his magnifying transmitter, Tesla’s system could send power through the earth to any point on the globe and provide a business it home with enough horsepower to operate and run all its machinery, including transportation machinery. 

I would add that this would not be free energy as the conspiracists on Tesla like to assume. Tesla never said anything about free energy. Unlimited energy, yes, but not free. These businesses would have to subscribe and pay for this energy just like we do today. 

4. A prefect government secret signal service by exclusive wireless waves: This is what tesla referred to as his “Art of Individualization.” This makes it possible to transmit unlimited number of signals or messages absolutely secret and exclusive both in the active and passive aspect, meaning non-interfering and non-interferable. Each signal would have its own identity, like snowflakes, and it wouldn’t matter how many stations or devices are in operation. None would disturb these secret signals. 

5. Interplanetary Communication: So Tesla understood that if we ever want to make contact with other intelligent life, we would have to use radio technology to do so. He knew how far away other planets are, and how long it would take to reach them given the limit of speed we can travel, or the constant speed of light. He believed that with enough power drawn from energy sources (such as Niagara Falls) to power his transformer he could create billions of horsepower, and with his magnifying transmitter send oscillating wave signals many times faster than light to the far reaches of this galaxy. 

6. Irrigation and fertilization of the world by wireless: Using wireless power, farmers and land owners will be able to pump water and irrigate their land from energy sent thousands of miles away. Tesla also believed that weather was of an electrical origin, and could be controlled by electrical means. Meaning, with a properly developed apparatus (different from his wireless system), he could pull water from oceans by hydraulic force, turn it into vapor and carry it in cloud form to arid parts of land, and make it rain, so to speak.  Also with fertilization, we know that too much nitrogen in the atmosphere is a bad thing, and not enough in the soil will cause growth deficiencies in plants. Tesla’s experiments in Colorado Springs showed that the nitrogen in the air could be burned with electricity. By burning the right amount of nitrogen in the air it can be turned into a fertilizer. 

7. Magnetizing of enemy battleships and submarines to attract torpedoes: This one speaks for itself. By using magnetic waves he could magnetize the metal of enemy and cause them to attract missiles. 

This wasn’t a new world order Tesla was trying to fulfill by eliminating competition. He knew about other radio developers and the new technology from his time. His system would not interfere with their electrical systems or ours today. It was his own commercial pursuit, and he knew how it would work based off his experiments in Colorado Springs. It was safe and perfectly commercializable in our free market here in America.

The Greatest Scientific Experiments In History

If you search the web for the greatest, or most famous experiments in history, no site will mention any of the many experiments conducted by Nikola Tesla. What you will find are wonderful, and very important experiments–like those of Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilee, William Harvey, Michael Faraday and Luigi Galvani, but nothing about Tesla, whose investigations into electricity make history’s more recognized experiments look like high school science. Many people today do not know that Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest experimental scientists of all-time.

Throughout the scientist’s investigations into high frequency phenomena, Tesla satisfied himself with a conclusion that an electrostatic field of sufficient intensity could fill a room and light wireless lamps. In 1891, he demonstrated this fact in a lecture given before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, and left an audience of America’s greatest engineers spell-bound as he demonstrated by experiments a new theory of light. He showed that by connecting two large sheets of zinc to the terminals of a circuit with the sheets being spread apart about fifteen feet away from each other, he could create an electrostatic field between the two. The sheets served as condensers, and both received the charge of electricity from the wires connecting the sheets to the transformer. Tesla would then introduce vacuum tubes and place them between the zinc sheets, illuminating the tubes and lighting the room. He waved the vacuum tubes around like a Jedi showcasing the first light sabers, and the tubes continued to glow as long as they remained in the electric field. With these results, Tesla theorized that it was possible to use the earth as a conductor of energy, create an electrostatic field in it, and send power to distant parts of the globe. 

To further develop and prove his wireless theory, Tesla spent time in Colorado Springs, from June 1, 1899 to January 7, 1900, to research and experiment with high voltage and high frequency electricity. He chose Colorado Springs because of the high elevation and low air pressure suitable for experimenting with electricity. Also, because he was in such as open area compared to his lab in New York that he was free to experiment with any such desire of voltage and frequency. With his new and improved disruptive coils (Tesla Coils), which could produce electrical vibrations into the millions of horsepower, Tesla was set test the limits of electricity. 

It’s clear from his notes that his principal aim was to find ways to manipulate the forces of nature and to utilize them for the advancement of mankind. He expressed that he had three main goals:

  1. To develop a transmitter of great power.
  2. To perfect means for individualizing and isolating the energy transmitted.
  3. To ascertain the laws of propagation of currents through the earth and the atmosphere.

In his 7 months of work, Tesla obtained voltage and frequencies in the hundreds of millions of horse power, producing sparks over 100 feet in length. He sent energy through the earth to light multiple lamps which were placed dozens of miles away from his transmitter, and discovered stationary waves deriving from lightning discharges which his receiver could detect hundreds of miles away from his station–a discovery proving that power could indeed be transmitted through the earth. He also discovered that the earth, as a whole, had certain natural periods of vibrations, and by using his inventions he could impress electrical vibrations at the same periods upon it, and the globe would be thrown into oscillations of such nature that massive amounts of energy could be created, collected, and transmitted to any distance. This process is called constructive interference (the interference of two or more waves of equal frequencies resulting in mutual reinforcement and producing double the amplitude). By doing this repeatedly, and by using the massive amounts of energy unheard of before, Tesla was able to transmit energy from his transmitter all the way around earth and back to his receiver traveling at a mean velocity of 292,815 miles per second. Witnessing these experiments and measurements, space, according to Tesla, was completely annihilated.

Fully confident that he accomplished what he set out for, Tesla journeyed back to New York to patent improved apparatuses, and to build a new system on a much larger scale. This would lead to his World Wireless System, known as his Wardenclyffe Tower. Unfortunately, Tesla would not complete his dream of providing mankind with cheap, unlimited energy… But his legacy and his dream should live on through these experiments in Colorado Springs.

The adjustments are such that the reservoir is fulled full and bursts at each alternation just at the moment when the electrical pressure reaches the maximum. The discharge escapes with a deafening noise, striking an unconnected coil twenty-two feet away, and creating such a commotion of electricity in the earth that sparks an inch long can be drawn from a water main at a distance of three hundred feet from the laboratory.

The large coil on the right, discharging strongly, is tuned to the fundamental vibration, which is fifty thousand per second; the two larger vertical coils to twice that number; the smaller white wire coil to four times that number, and the remaining small coils to higher tones. The vibrations produced by the oscillator were so intense that they affected perceptibly a small coil tuned to the twenty-sixth higher tone.

If you search the web for the greatest, or most famous experiments in history, no site will mention any of the many experiments conducted by Nikola Tesla. What you will find are wonderful, and very important experiments–like those of Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilee, William Harvey, Michael Faraday and Luigi Galvani, but nothing about Tesla, whose investigations with electricity make history’s more recognized experiments look like high school science. He showed that by connecting two large sheets of zinc to the terminals of a circuit with the sheets being spread apart about fifteen feet away from each other, he could create an electrostatic field between the two. The sheets served as condensers, and both received the charge of electricity from the wires connecting the sheets to the transformer. Tesla would then introduce vacuum tubes and place them between the zinc sheets, illuminating the tubes and lighting the room. He waved the vacuum tubes around like a Jedi showcasing the first light sabers, and the tubes continued to glow as long as they remained in the electric field. With these results Tesla theorized that it was possible to use the earth as a conductor of energy, or an electrostatic field, and send signals and power to distant parts of the globe. 

To further develop and prove his wireless theory, Tesla spent time in Colorado Springs, from June 1, 1899 to January 7, 1900, to research and experiment with high voltage and high frequency electricity. He chose Colorado Springs because of the high elevation and low air pressure suitable for experimenting with electricity. Also, because he was in such as open area compared to his lab in New York that he was free to experiment with any such desire of voltage and frequency. With his new and improved disruptive coils (Tesla Coils), which could produce electrical vibrations into the millions of horsepower, Tesla was set test the limits of electricity. 

It’s clear from his notes that his principal aim was to find ways to manipulate the forces of nature and to utilize them for the advancement of mankind. He expressed that he had three main goals:

  1. To develop a transmitter of great power.
  2. To perfect means for individualizing and isolating the energy transmitted.
  3. To ascertain the laws of propagation of currents through the earth and the atmosphere.

In his 7 months of work, Tesla obtained voltage and frequencies in the hundreds of millions of horse power, producing sparks over 100 feet in length. He sent energy through the earth to light multiple lamps which were placed dozens of miles away from his transmitter, and discovered stationary waves deriving from lightning discharges which his receiver could detect hundreds of miles away from his station–a discovery proving that power could indeed be transmitted through the earth. He also discovered that the earth, as a whole, had certain natural periods of vibrations, and by using his inventions he could impress electrical vibrations at the same periods upon it, and the globe would be thrown into oscillations of such nature that massive amounts of energy could be created, collected, and transmitted to any distance. This process is called constructive interference (the interference of two or more waves of equal frequencies resulting in a mutual reinforcement and producing double the amplitude). By doing this repeatedly, and by using the massive amounts of energy unheard of before, Tesla was able to transmit energy from his transmitter all the way around earth and back to his receiver traveling at a mean velocity of 292,815 miles per second. Witnessing these experiments and measurements, space, according to Tesla, was completely annihilated.

Fully confident that he accomplished what he set out for, Tesla journeyed back to New York to patent improved apparatuses, and to build a new system on a much larger scale. This would lead to his World Wireless System, known as his Wardenclyffe Tower. Unfortunately, Tesla would not complete his dream of providing mankind with cheap, unlimited energy… But his legacy and his dream should live on through these experiments in Colorado Springs.

The adjustments are such that the reservoir is fulled full and bursts at each alternation just at the moment when the electrical pressure reaches the maximum. The discharge escapes with a deafening noise, striking an unconnected coil twenty-two feet away, and creating such a commotion of electricity in the earth that sparks an inch long can be drawn from a water main at a distance of three hundred feet from the laboratory.

Nikola Tesla was asked what would an engineer have to do to the wireless systems of today in order to produce very little radiation of electromagnetic waves and produce a large amount of earth currents? What changes would he have to make in the system?

“He would have to construct and operate the apparatus described in my patents and in my lectures.

“It is just like this: In an enterprise of this kind, you have to start with certain fundamental propositions. If you are to build a commercial plant, the question comes up how much money is it to cost. Now, you go to specify before your capitalists the various parts of the plant, and you will find that your machinery and the aerial structure will cost so much. If your capitalists are willing to go deep into their pockets, you can put up a tremendous antenna because, as you know, as I pointed out in 1893, that the effects will be proportionate to the capital invested in that part; but you will find great limits there.

“I designed a plant [Wardenclyffe, referring to Fig. 1 & Fig. 2] years ago with a large capacity and put it before certain architects. They figured that the antenna would cost $450,000 and I had to modify my plans. As you see, you are limited by cost as to the size of the antenna; that is, you are limited as to the capacity and, furthermore, you have selected the frequency. In order to lower the frequency so that there would be no wasteful radiation of energy, you have to employ a large inductance. You have to employ a capacity as large as permissible, and you must use a large inductance in order that you may reach the low frequency which is economical.

“In a patent which appeared in April 1905, the application of which was filed on May 15, 1900 [Fig. 3], I have enunciated the law of propagation, which I have explained, and have stated that the frequencies should not be more than 30,000 or 35,000 cycles at most, in order to operate economically.

“The currents are proportionate to the potentials which are developed under otherwise equal conditions. If you have an antenna of a certain capacity charged to 100,000 volts, you will get a certain current; charged to 200,000 volts, twice the current. When I spoke of these enormous potentials, I was describing an industrial plant on a large scale because that was the most important application of these principles, but I have also pointed out in my patents that the same principles can be applied to telegraphy and other purposes. That is simply a question of how much power you want to transmit.

“In Colorado I used the so-called Tesla transformer [Fig. 4]. I did not have the high frequency machine with me which I could develop as much energy for the experiments, but with my transformer I could get any amount of energy I needed. That is why I used the transformer.

"The D P [in Fig. 2] is a curved plate. The plate has a large radius of curvature. You see, it is to be borne in mind that, in a general way, electricity will accumulate in the same way as the curvature of the surface has a smaller radius. This is an old truth which has been recognized 200 years ago. The design contemplates an arrangement whereby nowhere is electricity accumulated in excess. I am at a substantially uniform distribution of electricity in this structure, not only in the structure, but along the whole circuit where there is a high potential. This, of course, is simply to illustrate the principles. If you design a machine like that [referring to Fig. 2], it will be very much superior to those now in existence, but I have since that time introduced refinements and can produce very much better results than it would be possible with just exactly that construction.

"I had a 550-volt current with which I charged the condensers. These condensers I discharged through a primary in the form of an arc, sometimes I also introduced in this arc a mechanical break of several thousand per second. And I obtained a perfectly continuous train of waves as has been described in my patents. The reason why I show the condenser here [Fig. 2] is that that is synonymous with undamped waves. If I had shown the whole apparatus as arranged there, then I might still have damped waves; but whether I use an alternator or some other way of getting energy to that condenser, the condenser is usually there. For instance, if I use an alternator, I shunt its terminals with a condenser in order to magnify the current in the primary. I then tune this circuit to the alternator, and magnify the current in the primary in the ratio of the inductance to the resistance. Therefore, this condenser here stands for either method, and simply means that in this system, as is obvious from the description in the patent, the waves are undamped because high rises of potential would not be obtained otherwise. Whenever I wanted to obtain a high potential, I had to observe these rules in order to force the potential up to that value.”

“Nikola Tesla For The First Time Describes His New System For Supplying Wireless Power To Run All The Earth’s Industries.”

By a series of discoveries and inventions just perfected, Nikola Tesla, the electrical scientist, has upset what has hitherto been regarded as one of the fixed laws of nature. “Every effect diminishes with distance,” is the way the textbooks have expressed it. Tesla now says that instead of decreasing like other forces, electricity may be made to increase in intensity with the distance traveled.

The full significance of this discovery may not be at once apparent. It is obvious, however, that it annihilates space. There can be no limit to the power of the electric wave which increases in intensity the further it travels.

For nearly 20 years Tesla has been working on his plan, he calls it his wireless “World System.” If it is put into successful execution it will convert the earth into a gigantic conduit, which will pass power for all earthly activities, and make possible communication with other planets.

From time to time Tesla has made partial announcements as his work progressed. This, however, is the first comprehensive account of his system as a whole that the inventor has consented to give to the world.

“Through ages past man has anyways attempted to project in some way or other energy into space. In all his attempts, no matter what agent he employed, he was hampered by the inexorable law of nature which says every effect diminishes with distance, generally as the square of the same, sometimes more rapidly.

“I saw at once that space was annihilated in all the three aspects; in the transport of our bodies and materials and in the earth, transmission of the energies necessary for our existence. You can imagine how profoundly I was affected by this revelation. Technically, it meant that the earth, as a whole, had certain periods of vibrations, and that by by impressing electrical vibrations of the same periods upon it, it could be thrown into oscillations of such nature that innumerable benefits could be derived.

“It is difficult to convey an idea of these inventions without resorting to technical terms. The first and best known of these is my transformer, which enables the production of electrical vibrations of transcending intensities. I have already attained activities of many millions of horse power; but this is nothing compared to those which I am expecting to get with my improved apparatus.

“The second is what I have termed my magnifying transmitter, which I look upon as my best electrical invention, and with which any distance can be bridged. I have already passed of this wonderful instrument and am confident that a message can be flashed to such a distance as the planet Mars.

“Some technical men would be disposed to look upon such statements as those of a dreamer, but it is only because they have not had opportunities to see experiments which I have actually performed. The third invention I have designated as the “Art of individualization,” which enables the transmission of an unlimited number of messages through a wire or wireless, without the slightest interference. Not before this improvement is universally adopted will the world fully realise the benefits of telegraphy and telephony. The fourth invention is my receiver, which concentrates the energy transmitted over a wide area into the operating device.”

What would the voltage in your transmitter be?

“In the transmission of telegraphic and telephonic messages I shall employ from five to ten million volts, but in transmitting power in great quantities, as much as one hundred million volts will be used.“

How will your “World System” compare with those now in use as regards to cost?

“We could easily afford to offer a transmission of telegraphic and telephonic messages to any terrestrial distance for five cents a word. In a short while no one will think it anything out of the way to dictate or to write a long letter across the Pacific.”

How long does it take for the transmission of a message, by your system, around the world?

“The exact time is, according to my measurements, 43-1000 of a second, which is a speed about 50 per cent greater than that of light.

“The impulse starts from my magnifying transmitter with infinite speed, slows first rapidly and then at a lesser rate until, when it has penetrated to a distance of 6000 miles from the transmitter, it proceeds with approximately the speed of light. From there on it accelerates, first slowly and then more rapidly, and reaches the opposite point of the globe again with infinite speed only to rebound and pass through the same phases on its way back to the transmitter.

“This movement of electricity through the Earth, which takes place strictly in accordance with a mathematical law, and enables a great number of accurate measurements and determinations to be made, which are of immense practical and scientific value.”

Is your universal marine service based upon this principle?

“Largely so. In setting up and maintaining stationary waves in the earth its entire surface is subdivided in perfectly definite zones of electric activity, so that any observer of all those data which are of importance to navigators as the latitude and longitude, the position with reference to a given point, the speed of travel, and the course followed. This method is quite exact and reliable, and once introduced will be instrumental in a great saving of time, life and property.”

When your system of time distribution is introduced what kind of devices will be used for indicating the hour?

“They will be ever so much simpler than the ordinary clocks or watches, being entirely devoid of wheel work. For personal use a small case will be provided resembling that of a watch which would indicate precisely the time and require no more attention than a compass for instance. The large clocks on towers and public edifices in general will be replaced by extremely simple devices operated on the same principle.

“All these will be ‘tuned’ to a wireless wave sent out at a certain time. This will automatically set the hands of every ‘tuned’ time piece.”

In operating stock tickers, will the present instruments have to be replaced by others?

“Not at all, they will remain intact. A great financier told me that this should be one of the most valuable and practical applications of my system, inasmuch as the instantaneous operation of such instruments all the world over will go far toward allaying panics and failures which are at present mostly due to the inadequacy and stagnation of channels of information.”

“A business man will be able to dictate in his office a letter which will appear in type at any other place he wishes without loss of time in the transmission. It will be exactly as though he had his stenographer close by. In the same manner it will be practicable to send a handwritten letter or even a check, and what is more important, it will not be possible to falsify the signature.”

Will the transmission of complex musical productions require complicated apparatuses?

“Not at all. The apparatus at any of the master plants, transmitting a great number of musical compositions, will be of necessity complicated, but the subscriber will need only a telephone receiver, and, if he desires exclusiveness, and individualizing device in connection, which, however, will be rarely required. He will be none the less able to listen to the most complex opera played in some remote party of the world. What is more, he can carry the entire outfit with him on his walks and travels, and whenever he desires to listen to the music he can do so.

"The wireless system which I have developed does not contemplate competition with established lighting systems in densely populated districts, but it offers an ideal solution for the illumination of isolated places. The light will be furnished by exhausted glass tubes, bent in all sorts of ornamental shapes, and is of surpassing beauty, resembling closely the daylight. The lamps will last forever. The entire apparatus for lighting the average country dwelling will contain no moving part whatever, and could be readily carried about in a small valise. It will be quite immaterial in which region of the earth the house to be lighted is located. Distance will not affect the charge.“

How far from the Earth’s surface can power be transmitted by this wireless system?

“To any distance; in fact, the greater the elevation above the ground that easier it is to supply the power to the vehicle, such as an airship crossing the ocean.”

What do you consider the most important application of your system?

"The transmission of power, of course. The operation of aerial machines alone will be of a revolutionizing influence, in as much as it will afford a perfect solution of this important problem.

"Another great field will be the irrigation and fertilization of the soil by wireless power. The time is not distance when a farmer will have installed on his place an apparatus for continuously manufacturing, from the gases of the atmosphere, nitric compounds which will be used to fertilize, while a motor will pump the water and perform other duties; all the energy being supplied from a plant perhaps thousands of miles away. This system can be extended so as to make productive vast tracts of now barren lands located in various countries. I believe that the export of wireless power will be one of the chief resources of the United States and other fortunately situated countries in times to come.“
