Attack on Pearl Harbor: Nikola Tesla’s Attempt to Prevent Enemy Attacks.

Prior to World War II and the attack on Pearl Harbor, in 1935, Nikola Tesla sent an elaborate technical paper with diagrams to a number of allied nations including the United States, Canada, England, France, the Soviet Union, and Yugoslavia. It was titled New Art of Projecting Concentrated Non-Dispersive Energy Through Natural Media.” The paper provided the first technical description of a charged particle beam weapon. Tesla was communicating with the U.S. government and Prime Minster Chamberlain of Great Britain in an effort to promote his weapon for defense against enemy aerial attacks. The inventor’s correspondence with Chamberlain was his direct attempt to prevent Nazi Germany from taking over his native homeland, but when Great Britain, France and Italy agreed to let Germany annex Czechoslovakia at the Munich Conference in 1938, his communication with the Prime Minister came to an end. His ultimate goal was to prevent World War II.

Tesla’s device was a natural extension of his high frequency work where he produced 100 foot long sparks in his laboratory experiments at Colorado Springs in 1899. The next step was to control and direct this energy as a weapon. The device he proposed was a open vacuum tube that could charge small or large particles to millions of volts and project these highly charged “non-dispersive” particles through free air to bring down hundreds of enemy airplanes.

Had the U.S. Government and other allies accepted and adopted Tesla’s inventions and proposals he could have made this country, and others, completely invulnerable to any foreign invasions. Particularly like what happened at Pearl Harbor in 1941. Unfortunately, his innovations weren’t taken seriously, and his hopes and dreams of furthering peace died with him in 1943.

Dr. Tesla Says Two of Four Necessary Pieces of Apparatus Have Been Built

Amplifying his birthday anniversary announcement of the prospective invention of an electrical death-ray, or force beam, that would make any country impregnable in time of war, Dr. Nikola Tesla says that two of the four pieces of necessary apparatus already have been constructed and tested.

Four machines combine in the production and use of this destructive beam, which, according to Dr. Tesla would wipe out armies, destroy airplanes and level fortresses at a range limited only by the curvature of the earth. These four are:

First, apparatus for producing manifestations of energy in free air instead of in a high vacuum as in the past. This, it is said, has been accomplished.

Second, the development of a mechanism for generating tremendous electrical force. This, too, Dr. Tesla says, has been solved. The power necessary to achieve the predicted results has been estimated at 50,000,000 volts.

Third, a method of intensifying and amplifying the force developed by the second mechanism.

Fourth, a new method for producing a tremendous electrical repelling force. This would be the projector, or gun of the invention.

While the latter two elements in the plan have not yet been constructed, Dr. Tesla speaks of them as practically assured. Owing to the elaborate nature of the machinery involved, he admits it is merely a defense engine, though battleships could be equipped with smaller units and thus armed could sweep the seas.

In addition to the value of this engine for destruction in time of war, Dr. Tesla said it could be utilized in peace for the transmission of power. He had not developed ideas for receiving apparatus capable of transforming the destructive beam into work units, but considered this merely a matter of detail. No suggestion was made of what might happen if an enemy power obtained possession of one of these receiving outfits, and when attacked by the destructive beam simply put it to work in factories manufacturing munitions or uniforms.

Another addition to the anniversary message of the famous inventor was a positive declaration that he expected soon to construct apparatus that would disprove the theories of modern astronomers that the sun gradually was cooling off and eventually the earth would be unable to sustain life, as it would grow too cold.

Superman – The Mad Scientist

In the very first episode of the Superman cartoons produced by Fleischer Studios in the early 1940s, Superman battles a mad scientist who attempts to destroy Metropolis with an energy cannon.

This villain is based off Nikola Tesla, who in the mid-1930s began proposing an energy weapon to be used for defense in war. Tesla was portrayed as the bad guy but in reality he was opposed to war. He just understood the necessity for defense against brutes who have no morality. His proposal was to make war impossible by giving every country equal defense against the evils of this world. Tesla’s intentions were to promote peace and to end war.

Still… pretty sweet he was the first television villain in the Superman series.

Check out these articles relating to his defense weapon.

U.S. Navy tested the world’s first “Laser Weapons System” the…

U.S. Navy tested the world’s first “Laser Weapons System” the other day. This system of directing energy as a weapon is based off Nikola Tesla’s work which he attempted to share with the U.S. military during the last decade of his life. Tesla too had experimented with lasers, or rays, but his experimentations showed that these rays disperse with distance, just like the weapon above does. So Tesla went in another direction and used microscopic particles in his defense weapon instead, which he coined a “particle beam.” Tesla’s device was a natural extension of his high frequency work after he produced 100 foot long sparks, or artificial lightning, in his laboratory experiments at Colorado Springs in 1899. The next step was to control and direct this energy as a weapon. The device he proposed was a open vacuum tube that could charge small or large particles to millions of volts and project these highly charged “non-dispersive” particles through free air to bring down hundreds of enemy airplanes. The Tesla weapon would be more destructive as opposed to just heating the target point. Particle beams would have inertial mass being beamed along with high energy photonic phase conjugation. I know the people out there who are opposed to war will be upset at Tesla’s work, but they should understand that Tesla was opposed to war as well. He just understood the necessity for defense against brutes who have no morality. His proposal was to make war impossible by giving every country equal defense against the evils of this world.

“War is without reason or excuse; a horror greater than a thousand infernos, real or Dante-pictured. Engines of slaughter have been the creations of a war-mad people. They are symbols of a barbaric blood lust–without the pale of civilization and Christianity.

“Yet we have wars. And as a natural accompaniment there are employed the most improved death-dealing machines of the age.

“In ancient times men fought man to man, with the strength and sinews of their arms, with skill and might of sword and lance, hand to hand. And prowess and brawn and stamina and mastership–individual supremacy in generalship–won their battles, much as they are won to-day in the boxing ring. In modern warfare men are merely pawns, their fighting ability supplanted by the destroying capacity of machinery. And there have recently been produced such tremendous and before undreamed-of instruments of destruction that the world stands paralyzed with amazement and horror at the havoc they work.

However, even though it seem a paradox, it remains for the nation most disposed to peace to create a yet greater agency of destruction than any thus far contrived. Not one which merely will surpass present weapons in degree, but one which will out-Herod Herod in battle equipment, one which will prove an all-efficient means of widespread annihilation on a gigantic scale; against which no army or nation could survive, and against which there could be offered no adequate defense or protection…

“But–and this is the humanitarian side to this suggested engine of annihilation–if either belligerent should equip and place in active service an effective fleet of these arc-producing, incendiary air craft and should make due announcement to enemy nations of a proposed [assault] upon its cities or its forces in the field. Such an act would be equivalent to serving notice of a demand for surrender–and beyond an advanture it would promptly and unconditionally be accepted.”

**************************************

“As before stated, the force which retards the onward movement of man is partly frictional and partly negative. To illustrate this distinction I may name, for example, ignorance, stupidity, and imbecility as some of the purely frictional forces, or resistances devoid of any directive tendency. On the other hand, visionariness, insanity, self-destructive tendency, religious fanaticism, and the like, are all forces of a negative character, acting in definite directions. To reduce or entirely overcome these dissimilar retarding forces, radically different methods must be employed. One knows, for instance, what a fanatic may do, and one can take preventive measures, can enlighten, convince, and, possibly direct him, turn his vice into virtue; but one does not know, and never can know, what a brute or an imbecile may do, and one must deal with him as with a mass, inert, without mind, let loose by the mad elements. A negative force always implies some quality, not infrequently a high one, though badly directed, which it is possible to turn to good advantage; but a directionless, frictional force involves unavoidable loss. Evidently, then, the first and general answer to the above question is: turn all negative force in the right direction and reduce all frictional force.”
